LOS ANGELES – Today former four-term California State Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles) announced his endorsement of Kelly Gonez’s campaign for school board.
“This endorsement is not about politics," said Assemblyman Gatto. "It's about choosing who is most qualified. Kelly has the experience our community needs to improve our schools. With strong roots in the community and being the only teacher in the race, Kelly has what it takes to provide all children with the great education they deserve.”
“I am honored to have the support of Assemblyman Gatto,” said Kelly. “I look forward to working together on behalf of every student and every family in our community.
Gatto's father was a Los Angeles public school teacher for forty-seven years, and his district overlapped with the district Kelly is running in.
Kelly is running for school board to ensure all children receive a great education that paves way for a brighter future. A resident of Sylmar with her husband Manuel, Kelly teaches 7th grade science at a STEM-focused charter middle school in LAUSD.
