LOS ANGELES – Building on her first place finish in the primary, The Latino Coalition of Los Angeles-PAC (LCLA) has announced that they have formally endorsed Kelly Gonez for school board.
“We endorse Kelly Gonez for her unrivaled qualifications as a successful science teacher, former education policy advisor to President Obama and as someone who grew up attending schools in the Northeast San Fernando Valley while witnessing her mother learn to speak English at a local LAUSD adult school. We see the manifestation of our PAC goals throughout her policies but more importantly throughout her real-life experiences,” said LCLA Interim-president, Rinee-Marie Alvarez. “We are committed to empowering and advancing individuals like Kelly Gonez who has shown through strong professional, communal and educational literacy that she is ready and more than capable to break any glass ceiling standing in her way.”
“I am so grateful for the support of LCLA,” said Kelly. “It will take our entire community to improve our schools for all students and I look forward to working with LCLA to make that vision a reality.”
Kelly Gonez is running for school board to ensure all children have access to an excellent education. Kelly resides in Sylmar with her husband, Manuel. She currently teaches 7th grade science at a STEM-focused charter middle school in LAUSD.
